Anniversary

My parents were married 55 ½ years when mom passed away from cancer. I wondered whether dad would ever find love again. He did.

Today, Salena and Budo Perry celebrate their 10th Wedding Anniversary.

The wedding was a “small” affair in the church with only a hundred or so people in attendance. Her youngest daughter did all the decorations (did a fantastic job, btw) and the happy couple walked each other down the aisle. A little unorthodox, but it was perfect for them. Actually, I think they held each other up, both going down the aisle and during the ceremony. 😉

After they said their vows (her son-in-law, the preacher, officiating) they had all their children come forward and face each other. We were now one family, so best we get used to seeing each other. A lot!

Here’s Salena and Budo with all of their children and spouses taken 2 years ago. (Can you imagine what’s it’s like to have all the grandkids, great-grands and great-great grands added to the mix? 🙂  )

You might not think you could find love when you’re 80+ years old, but you can. Dad and Salena are living proof. Only the good Lord knows how much longer they’ll have together, but it doesn’t matter. They’ve made each other extremely happy and have brought a richness and fullness to each other’s lives that neither would have had otherwise.

Dad, Salena, I love you and wish you many more years of wedded bliss!

About Linda Trout

I'm a retired accountant who loves a little space around me. What better way to think of new story ideas than under a tall tree, birds chirping, gofers digging, dogs barking, and cats demanding to be in your lap? When I'm totally bored, I climb on my Harley and go for a ride. That'll blow the cobwebs out of your brain.
